World of Warcraft players learn early the need to earn gold for the purchase of training, equipment, and transportation. Part of the enjoyment of the WoW is the ability to advance in levels and skills. Without a plan of action in earning, players usually struggle though the first 40 levels of play.
The first decision should be to choose a server that has a medium to large population. You want buyers for the items you will be making, finding, and collecting. The main avenue of selling your goods will be the auction house. Auction houses are found in all main cities. It is here you will sell everything except gray items. Sell gray items to vendors throughout the world.
The next step is to create a mule. The mule is a character you make for the pure purpose of using the auction house to sell your goods. Your main character should not be traveling back and forth to the main cities; this will cost you time and gold. Create a mule, move them by anyway necessary to a main city, and park them between a mailbox and the auction house. Your main character should include the mule's name in the friends list to make mail transactions easier. Send everything to the mule that you intend to sell.
The basic rule of earning gold in the World of Warcraft is learning two main professions. For the first forty levels, you should focus on only gathering professions. You can always change later to specialized talents. The three gathering professions are skinning, mining, and herbalism. Because you can track the location of ore and herbs on your mini map, you need to choose skinning and either mining or herbalism. The purchase of a profession will cost ten copper and require at least level five.
Skin everything possible, mine or collect herbs, send everything collected to your mule. The mule should place the items on the auction house at the going rate. He should collect and return the proceeds to the main character for his training, equipment needs, and whatever else is necessary. As you progress in World of Warcraft, remember to use some of the gold you are earning to increase the size of the bags of your main character, as well as your mule. As you gain insight on the typical auction house prices of your server, look for deals whereas you can buy low and resell at a profit. Prices tend to increase on everything on the weekend when people are playing the most.
